Plan Your Coop, The last element is planning the coop. The coop must have several items including the nesting box for the chickens to lay their eggs, ventilation or windows for proper air and light, and waterer and feeder for definite reasons.
Right Location, Location is important. There are several things you need to consider in the first place. Proper coop should receive natural sunlight and shade at the same time so it will not be hot all day long. Coop with nice air flow is better but make sure it isn’t exposed to strong wind. Place under a tree can be a good choice. It should have ease of access which means it is considerable accessible for human. And, the coop should be in proper distance from the house so the smell doesn’t reach into the house.
Right Chicken Coop Size, The first element is the size. How many chickens will you have? Decide it first so you can decide the proper size for the coop. In average, 3-4 square feet is need for one chicken. For instance, if you want to have 4 chickens, the total area required is 16 square feet. The space should be spacious enough for the chickens to roam around so they will be happy. And, bigger space also means cleaner space so it will not be really smelly.
