These can be constructed under an old abandoned sheds discarded children playhouses or simply a small corner of the backyard. Consider fencing the roof of these chicken coops it will not only protect your chickens from numerous predators but also prevent the chickens from entering into your neighbors backyard. If you have decided to build a medium size chicken coop then you are simply constructing a small chicken house with a slightly larger footprint with a somewhat higher cost and additional construction time. These medium size coops can be built into a portable design which works great if you need to move the chicken hutch for any reason. The only difference between the large coop lies in the fact that they are capable of holding a larger number of hens as compared to smaller coops. There are a wide variety of different chicken hutch plans available which once purchased can be scaled up or back in their design depending on your specific requirements. These medium and smaller coops cannot be utilized for an industrial scale business because they cannot hold more than twenty hens. There are blueprints available for chicken coop building projects on a larger scale. There is no limit to the size of these coops and there is no end to the number of hens that can be kept in these coops if your prepared to do the additional work.
A mobile chicken coop is normally made of bolts pins or snaps that are connected together. This way it can be easily assembled or disassembled by the owner. It is easy to clean because normally it includes an open bottom. Thus you just move it to a new location and clean the old spot. Obviously you will still need to do some cleaning inside the coop but not so much as with a traditional one. Look for quality materials. Since you can transfer your portable chicken coop from one place to another you have to make sure that your coop is not only light-weight but at the same time durable enough to withstand the constant transport. There are also additional features available for portable coops such as a useful wheel and handle. You can easily wheel off to anywhere you want your new portable coop. You can wheel it into direct sunlight in order for your chickens to get some heat.
Still there are several factors that need to be considered including size style and usage. How many chickens do you have? Will you need some spaces for the hens to lay eggs or the roosters to nest? Would you prefer a chicken coop that takes on the appearance of a barn or would you rather choose the plain design of wood? These choices are up to you but if youre intending to build your own portable chicken coop remember that the appearance wont be especially nice unless you choose to add more spice to it. If youre looking to build your own portable chicken coop then you have two options: use a previously created plan or design your own. However unless youre an experienced carpenter or familiar with chicken tractor plans its probably not the best idea to do so. Still keep several important details in mind when youre looking for the perfect chicken tractor.
